Uganda should fight all forms of smoking

Editor––Several countries have taken measures to protect children and teens from tobacco marketing by requiring that tobacco sold in stores be kept out of sight.
This is because large displays of tobacco products placed behind the checkout function as a marketing tool aimed at recruiting new smokers, more than 85 percent of whom start before the age of 18.
Protecting children is the same reason that tobacco advertising is prohibited on television, radio and billboards in this country. Countries like Ireland, England, New Zealand and Thailand, have decided that their kids have seen enough.
The problem is that its not just the cigarettes that our youth smoke, but also marijuana and bang. Should the nation rise up against cigarette smoking, all these other despicable habits will soon be kicked out.
