KAMPALA, UGANDA - With people jostling to get into the Industrial area based Club Silk to get a glimpse of the monthly show piece 'Unplugged' is surely the show of the moment.
Over the years, Club Silk that begun operating in 1994, has seen the incorporation of three other sections that include; Silk Royale in 1996, Silk Lounge in 2004 and Silk Oxygen in 2006. The different sections feature separate DJ's, dance floors, sound systems and ambience.  All sections of the club heighten the excitement with which revelers go for the unplugged sessions.
The Unplugged sessions at the Silk lounge attract mammoth crowds and breathing space is not as luxuriously available as it was during the 'Back to the 90s' theme night, said Jeff a regular patron at the club.
Unplugged is a session dedicated to artistes in the country to showcase their vocal prowess on live instruments and is in any case the proper thing since it is not every day that one gets to see musicians sing to live instruments over an entire show as opposed to singing to backup CDs which they are accustomed to.
At an entrance fee of Ush25,000 ($11), one is guaranteed to watch their favourite artist perform to a live band. These sessions have become especially popular for socialites from all walks of life.
In 2008, NTV and Club Beer sealed a partnership that enabled television viewers to experience the monthly Unplugged music sessions held at Club Silk's lounge in the comfort of their living rooms.
This has made the sessions more popular with both younger and older revelers as the unplugged nights are always packed, which gives Club Silk and Nile Breweries the makers of the official show sponsor 'Club Beer' mileage businesswise.
During the last unplugged session at Club Silk on March 31, it was Omulangira Suuna and man of the moment Sizzaman's turn to thrill the audience that had patiently waited for the show in a packed Silk Lounge.
Sizza has become very famous for his 'Angella' hit; it was therefore no surprise that he commanded a full house during his unplugged show at Club Silk.
The show started low key with performance from KS. Alpha, Yoyo, Fidempa among others.
When Suuna who was sharing the stage with Sizza came on, revellers could not wait for him to get done with his renditions of other people's songs so that the Angella star could come on.
Finally at around 10:30pm, Sizza the self proclaimed 'Dancehall dictionary', dressed in a sky blue shirt and grayish jeans leapt onto stage to the thunderous applause from the audience.
Sizza might have a few songs but he sure knows how to work a crowd. He went through his lyrical songs like Ayagala Mafaranga, China Phone, Nsota(with Ngoni), Taxi Money which he performed with Goodlyfe's Radio and Weasel. He got off stage around midnight with people still asking for a repeat of 'Angella', for the umpteenth time.
