KAMPALA, UGANDA- Over 1,500 delegates from business communities all over the world will gather in Mexico City, for the World Chambers Congress.
The congress, to take place from June 8-10, is organized by the ICC World Chambers Federation. It has firmly established itself as the only global forum for chambers of commerce and their business leaders.
Under the umbrella theme "Enterprise-Network-Prosperity", the 7th World Chambers Congress will take up the key challenges and opportunities for the new economy, corporate social responsibility, today's labor force- and the role business can play in addressing them.
The Congress will feature an array of programmes, plenaries, working sessions, and social opportunities, all designed with a focus on community and progress.
Participants will be able to gain insight from internationally-renowned speakers including chamber of commerce, business and government leaders. Already confirmed for this year's Congress include Muhtar Kent Chairman & CEO of Coca-Cola and Rajat Gupta of Mckinsey.
The Uganda National Chamber of Commerce & Industry last week invited Ugandan participants to the event, which will assemble a global community of more than 12,000 chambers of commerce, their leading business members, and influential world leaders.
According to Paul Nyakairu the general secretary, the congress will provide a unique opportunity for interaction between delegates from more than 100 countries.
"It will offer an opportunity to Chamber officials to share experiences, exchange insights, develop networks and address the current business issues affecting their communities," said Nyakairu.
He said the Congress will include the World Chambers Competition 2011 for Chambers of Commerce (to showcase originality and ingenuity, demonstrate determination to strengthen SMEs and improve their services to members) as well as an exhibition.
Nyakairu explained that registration is at $550 (about Ugs1.32m) for all African participants, which includes entry to the opening ceremony, all sessions, exhibition, welcome reception, closing ceremony, 3 lunches, coffee breaks, and a copy of the programme.  He said registration is available online, by fax, by email and by phone. "One may pay online using VISA, MasterCard, or American Express credit cards or via bank wire transfer directly to the Congress organizers.
