Roofings Group has pledged to enhance Job creation through supporting skills Development among the Ugandan youth by offering scholarships to students.
The Group chairman Sikander Lalani said skills development plays big role towards the development of any country’s economy.
Lalani made the remarks at the Company factory in Namanve Industrial Park on Tuesday while launching celebrations to mark 25 years of Roofings’ existence in Uganda.
“We want to celebrate our existence in Uganda by not only offering quality Steel products on the market but also give back to the Ugandan Community through offering Scholarships to bright but needy students. This in future will transform the country’s economy,” he said.
He added that the Group will need more professional man power since they are expanding the production lines at the Namanve Plant thus the need to start training younger people.
He noted that these will be much needed in the plant as engineers and accountants, among other professionals.
Currently, Roofings is producing up to 350 tonnes of metal works annually from the Namanve factory together with that of Lubowa in Wakiso district. This follows the full completion of the new Roofings factory that is currently employing over 3000 Ugandans at Namanve industrial park in Mukono District.
During the same occasion, the Group chairman also disclosed that Roofings is going to use engineering technologies that are environmentally friendly in order to control air pollution in the places they operate.
