Crown Beverages Limited (CBL), the bottler of Pepsi, Mirinda, Mountain Dew, Sting, and Nivana Water has launched a Ushs 4 billion campaign branded Tukonectinge with Pepsi. Tukonectinge is a Luganda slang that means let’s connect.
Through the campaign, Pepsi will reward its consumers with a total of; 24 fully-paid trips to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, 25 Toyota Wish cars, 24 Home Fridges as well as instant mobile money cash and airtime in different denominations, among other prizes
According to Paddy Muramiirah, the Chief Executive Officer, Crown Beverages, the new campaign seeks to promote and strengthen relationships among Pepsi consumers, their families, peers and friends, as they commemorate the Easter Holidays, Ramadhan, and Martyrs Day.
“Crown Beverages has invested well-over Ushs.4 billion in this promotion to make it a worthwhile experience for the millions of customers who will engage with our brands, over the next four months,” Muramiirah said. The promotion which was launched at the company’s head office in Nakawa, Kampala, is slated to run from April 11th to the end of July 2019.
“This new marketing campaign brings our total investment in such marketing initiatives over the last five years, to over Ushs.20 billion. Most of this money has gone to rewarding our consumers with numerous prizes and raising awareness about our quality brands,” revealed Muramiirah.
He added that in the past, Crown Beverages has rolled out successful promotions, in which consumers have won cars and lots of other prizes. “Tukonectinge with Pepsi is, therefore, building on the great foundation that our successful campaigns such; Twangula, Sala Puleesa, Chamuka, Motozela, Mirindarific and many others laid.”
Isaac Sekasi, the Head of Marketing, CBL said the promotion is aimed at further cementing the leadership position of CBL’s 300ml glass portfolio of Pepsi, Mirinda, and Mountain Dew.
“Unlike our past campaigns for Tukonectinge with Pepsi, winning will be heavily dependent on connecting with those around us especially during the upcoming festive celebrations and winning will be in doubles.”
To participate in the promotion, a consumer will buy two (2) glass bottles of either Pepsi, Mirinda or Mountain Dew and will check under the crown of the bottles and SMS the two codes and the chosen partner of choice will also SMS the same codes to 7888.
This means the two partners have made a connection to form a lucky winning pair. For example, SMS Code1 <space> Code2 <space>.
After sending the SMS, the participant will receive a notification message of his or her paired partner. Lucky winners will then be selected in an exciting weekly TV show that will be aired live on NTV, Bukedde and TV West on Sundays from 06:00 -07:00 pm.
During the launch of the promotion, award-winning Ugandan musician John Blaq, real names John Kasadha was announced as the lead campaigner who will provide great entertainment to Ugandans during the campaign activities and festive celebrations.
