Kampala, Uganda-19 year old Arinaitwe Emily is among the ten Ugandan children who have successfully undergone heart surgery at the World's Renowned Narayana Hospital in Bangalore India.
Six of the children who were flown to Bangalore on November 25, 2011 together with their guardians flew back into the country on December 30th 2011.
The operations, according to, Mr. Shalendra Kundra, the Chairman of the Indian Association of Uganda, were made possible through collaboration of the Indian Community in Uganda.
"The Indian Business Community has been very instrumental in raising the funds and we are very grateful to all the donors who have enabled these children to lead a more meaningful life." Shalendra commended.
Ms. Veronica Busingye a parent of three year old Lukuba Jeremiah appreciated the Indian community for helping them carry the heavy load off their shoulders.
"I had toiled and moved in and out of hospital countless times. I have spent a lot of money and had almost given up, but thanks to the Indian Association, I know my son will now have a normal life", said Busingye "I am certain that my son has no restrictions and he will be able to engage in all activities just like any other normal child."
The Indian Association has so far injected over Ushs 600m into the project that was initiated by Mr. Narendra Vadera who was born and raised in Uganda having undergone successful heart surgery at the Narayana hospital.
