KAMPALA, Uganda–Total E&P Uganda has launched a training programme for oil and gas welders this morning. The aim is to have industry level certified welders to contribute to the pool of required technicians for the construction of the pipeline and refianary.
“The studies undertaken indicate that approximately 1,500 welders will be required at the peak of construction. This, in addition to other trades and crafts presents opportunities for the country but also calls for more work to prepare and seize the opportunities.” Ernest Rubondo ED, PAU
“The oil and gas welders training will impart skills to the highest level of structural welding (4G) and pipe welders (2G to 6G)” Patrick Mbonye, MD, Q-Sourcing.
Training to be done in Lwengo and Buliisa with participants from the Districts hosting the pipeline and have prior experience.
It is reported that the construction of the East African Crude oil pipeline is expected to take place in the coming month.
