Turkish Airlines expands in Africa with new flights to Banjul

Turkish Airlines has widened its African network by launching flights to Banjul, the Administrative City of Gambia.

On November 26, the airline began twice-weekly flights between Dakar Senegal and Banjul Gambia.

Their Banjul entry is good news to Gambia tourism industry that was highly tainted especially when the deposed former President Yahaya Jammeh was still holding on to power before he was airlifted out on January 21st 2017 to Equatorial Guinea. Turkish Airlines entry is almost after 2 years since Jammeh was removed.

The addition of flights to Banjul has increased Turkish Airlines flight network to 54 in Africa. This is further strengthening its presence on the continent.

The Banjul route makes it 123 countries with 305 destinations worldwide now served by Turkish Airlines.

“The increase in our presence in Africa is a good sign for world tourism. Banjul is our 54th destination in Africa,” said Kerem Sarp the Turkish Airlines Senior Vice President for Sales.
