Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) has finally terminated the employment contract of embattled executive director Jolly Kaguhangire.
In an October 26 letter, the authority board chairman Emely Kugonza listed five major reasons why they had to terminate Kaguhangire’s contract.
“The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) board has resolved in a special meeting of October 26, 2018 to terminate your employment contract as executive director with immediate effect,” the letter reads in part
The reasons for the termination are; abuse of office, gross insubordination, incompetence, concealment, misinformation and lying to the board, defiance and misconduct of interdiction.
“All the five above amount to gross misconduct in line with section 922 of the Human Resource manual. I, therefore, inform you that your employment as Uganda Investment Authority executive director is hereby terminated with immediate effect,” the letter adds.
However, Kaguhangire has not come out to say anything on her dismissal.
In June this year, the UIA board interdicted Ms Kaguhangire pending findings of investigations into alleged misuse of office, among other reasons.
However, she refused to leave, something that forced the UIA board to break into the office for a scheduled handover to Acting executive director Basil Ajer.
Ajer continues to hold office until further notice.
