KAMPALA, UGANDA - The concert dubbed by organizers as the 'Concert of the year' is back on track after the discharge of Hip-hop singer Sean Kingston from hospital following a nasty jet ski crash at the Palm Island Bridge in May left the American-born Jamaican singer in an Intensive Care Unit.
Kingston (born Kisean Anderson) whose Kampala show was in balance as it was originally intended for July 29, seems to be on track for the Kampala concert after the 'Dutty dutty' singer made a miraculous recovery and was reported to be out of hospital and back home, where he was greeted with a welcome-back party by friends and family.
The promoter of the Kampala Concert and also proprietor of Talent 256; a music production house, Aly Allibhai last week announced that the 'Concert of the year' was on though it had been pushed to September 16, 2011.
He stated, "We are happy to confirm that Sean Kingston will be in performing in Kampala, we have been working on this booking for some time and I am now happy to confirm that the contractual obligations and deposits have been handled. We are excited to bring an A-list superstar like Sean to Uganda, his music is so popular over here in Uganda and we are looking forward to making it an unforgettable event." Talent 256 and Nile Breweries, through their brand Club beer are the event organizers of the event that revelers have looked up to for long.
Some revelers are still reeling from the R. Kelly concert which many of them claim was a rip off after the American RnB sensation "just beeped" Kampala during his last show and they hope this will not be the same.
Unlike the R. Kelly event, organizers said, "We signed a one-hour contract with Kingston and that is all the time he will be on stage."
So to get a glimpse of the 21-year-old nephew to Buju Banton who has captivated the global music industry after his debut chart topping single, "Beautiful Girls"; he has never looked back since then gracing air waves with other chart toppers like "Take You There", "Face Drop", "Me Love", "Fire Burning", "Letting Go" and "Eenie Meenie" among others.
The singer is expected a day later to perform in Kigali, Rwanda
For the entrance fee, rumors flying around place the fee at around Ush. 50,000 ($20) for an ordinary ticket.  The list of curtain raiser artists is expected to be out next week though some circles are whispering that 'Ashawo' singer Mr. Flavor could be among them.
The singer's 'Ashawo' hit is a popular tune among Ugandans and is currently enjoying massive air play both on TV and radio.
