New pay Tv brand enters Uganda

KAMPALA, UGANDA - MultiChoice Uganda has added a new cheaper television platform GOtv to the already existing DSTV brand into the Ugandan market.
The brand to use the new technology Digital Terrestrial Television technology was launched in Kampala last week. Uganda was the second country to welcome the new television platform after its earlier launch in Zambia.
According to Ms Patricia Kiconco the GOtv business development manager, Ugandans will have two bouquets to choose from. "There is GOtv plus with 23 channels for Ush36000 per month ($14.4) and GOtv with 18 channels for Ush19500 per month ($7.8)," explained Kiconco.
She added that the GOtv brand was created by MultiChoice to avail affordable digital television product for all people and erase their imagination that digital television is expensive.
"GOtv is offering a great selection of local channels made in Africa for Africa as well as great international channels from as low as Ush19500 per month," she stressed.
She mentioned some of the available exciting African channels as Africa Magic+, UBC, NTV Uganda, One Gospel, E!Entertainment, Channel O, eTVAfrica, Magic World etc.
Uganda's Information Minister Mary Karoro Okurut said Uganda has over 40 television stations both free to air and pay Tvs and urged the new television brand to adhere to the Ugandan media laws.

Am happy with this new product and i request multichoice to avail some of its bouqets on dstv to this new Gotv as it will attract more suscribers who now prefer the plug & play decoders. thanks multichoice.
