Sadolin Paints opens mega Colour Centre

KAMPALA, UGANDA- Sadolin Paints has partnered with a local investor to set up the first of its kind colour centre/stall at Freedom City Mall in Namasuba in Wakiso district.

The Colour Shopping centre worth over Ush180m is owned by a local investor Joseph Kanaaba.

AkzoNobel Commercial Executive Deon Nieuwoudt, the global manufacturers of Sadolin Paint said they reached have 90% completion rate of their Namanve manufacturing plant. He said the plant will start local manufacturing of Sadolin Paint by March this year.

“Most of our Sadolin Paint is imported in from Kenya but by March, our local plant will be fully operational,” Nieuwoudt said at the Colour Centre opening.

He added that the stall will create a different shopping experience for shoppers as they will be able to select colours to colour their future.

Nieuwoudt said they intend to go digital by taking the paint industry to the digital world.

Crown Paints CEO Rakesh Rao, who own Regal Paints Ltd, the current local suppliers of Sadolin Paint said Ugandans can freely walk into the colours centre and choose their colours. 

“This is the first of its kind but more stalls of a similar nature will come up in Kampala and its suburbs,” said Rao.

Joseph Kanaaba, the Colour Centre Proprietor said people will walk in and choose any colour of sadolin that will be mixed there and then.

“In a factory its can take you two or three weeks to get paint especially when it needs mixing to get specialized colours. Here, you walk in pay and tell us the colour you want. If it’s not readily available, it’s mixed for you there and then,” said Kanaaba.
