KAMPALA, Uganda - Regional retailer Nakumatt holdings is still trying to recover losses it suffered due to the Westgate attack last year.

Speaking during the memorial service to mark the first anniversary of the Westgate terror attack that was held at Nakumatt supermarket Kampala, Nakumatt Oasis branch manager Vincent kumya said their business was affected throughout the region.

“The events on that fateful Saturday midmorning are still very painful. Which is why we are  taking time off today to say our memorial prayers to seek God’s comfort, global peace, love and harmony,”  he said

He applauded the Uganda security forces for their efforts in combating terrorism and advocating for vigilance of any terror threats.

The company on Sunday conducted interdenominational religious prayers across all its branches in East Africa to mark the first anniversary memorial for this attack.
