Kenya leaders must reassure on terror threat
Editor,
Like many fellow Kenyans, I am angry and appalled at the terror attacks on innocent people.
This is very bad for business, most especially our tourism industry which is being hit hard.
However, I am concerned by the apparent lack of direction in responding to these attacks.
The statement by President Kenyatta that the most recent attacks at the Coast were politically motivated is causing much confusion.
This was after the al Shabaab had already claimed responsibility. What is the real story?
I think anyone who uses terrorism as a political tool has to be confined in a mental institution. In most cases it is the disadvantaged who feel the full force of these attacks.
In reference to the Coast attacks, hotel owners don’t need waiters or waitresses and cooks or laundry people when there are no guests to take care of. Being laid off soon comes afterwards.
Poor people are not protected by bodyguards or stay in fortified homes. I am requesting the Kenya leadership to show some maturity and come together as one. I am sure this is what investors and business people want.
A show of commitment that the larger picture, which is in the best interests of the Kenya nation is firmly in the minds and their public statements.
