Arusha prepares for presidents

CHAIRING: President Kenyatta will brief his colleagues on the revised model structure, road map and action plan for the East Africa Political Federation.

ARUSHA, Tanzania - The 12th Extraordinary EAC Heads of States Summit is set for April 30, 2014 in Arusha. 

President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, President Nkurunzinza of Burundi and Paul Kagame of Rwanda, are all expected to attend.

President Kenyatta, Chair of the EAC Heads of States will brief his colleagues  on the revised model structure, road map and action plan for the East Africa Political Federation.

Besides being the High Level decision making, policy organ of the Community , the Presidents are scheduled to consider among others; alternative financing mechanisms for the EAC; progress of negotiations on the admission of the Republic of South Sudan into the Community; as well as a progress report on the EAC Institutional Review.

According to a press release, senior officials have been preparing the groundwork since including  Permanent Secretaries and finally the Council of Ministers session will be held today Monday 28 April 2014.
