Oil wars can be prevented

editor––There is what has come to be called ‘an oil curse’. for some reason, once a nation is endowed with oil or diamonds or any other mineral, that nation will soon have war raging.

An example is Nigeria which has had her fair share of conflicts.

Sudan may not escape the ‘curse’ either and the issue of sharing oil revenue stands out as potentially decisive, and could lead to war.

Southern Sudan rebels announced that oil infrastructure and personnel would be regarded as legitimate military targets, and the focus of the conflict moved to the oilfields, with hundreds of thousands of civilians being killed or forcibly displaced from their homes .

Uganda is flaunting her newly discovered treasure and already, many are getting executed and wondering to whom the largest part of the pie will go!

We had better put down clear demarcations about what's to be done with the devidends of the oil before we start to experience the ‘curse’ as well.
