KAMPALA, UGANDA - Do you have a Barclays Bank branch near you? Thank God, because true to their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), they are going to keep the neighbourhood clean. The bank has started a campaign to help clean areas in which it operates. The staff of Barclays Bank will give their time during all weekends in the month of May 2009 to engage in a variety of community projects across the country. Barclays Uganda Community Relations Manager Lillian Byaruhanga said last week the month-long drive is part of Barclays' making a difference under the charming theme: Charity Begins At Work. She also said Barclays is spending over $37, 500 (about UShs75 million) in over 50. On May 23, 2009 Shauriyako Branch staff cleaned Nakivubo Road in Kampala city. The exercise was carried out in conjunction with Nabugabo Updeal Joint Venture, a company contracted by Kampala City Council (KCC) to offer solid waste management services. |
